Mad for Plaid

Channel your inner Lumber Jack this fall with a trend made for weekends!

Plaid button downs paired with jeans are big for this fall.  There are so many options, from urban black & white combos to classic red-based patterns and anything in between — and you can wear them with  skinny jeans , wide-leg  or boot cuts !plaid celbs

There are two main types of plaid –the buffalo and the tartan.

Buffalo Plaid  Shirts

Buffalo Plaid is  large squares (usually) of two different colors- often red and black. Why is this also known as Lumberjack plaid?  That’s because red and black buffalo plaid flannel is the stereotypical uniform of loggers.

To make this look less “lumberjack” and more stylish, find a fitted shirt and belt it with a wide black belt at the natural waist. Pair with skinny jeans and heels.

Tartan Plaid  Shirts

Tartan plaid, is basically, any plaid other than Buffalo. Tartan is the plaid seen on kilts and school uniforms.  For a casual Fall look, pair a plaid flannel over a t-shirt with your favorite boyfriend jeans. For a more tailored look, pair a fitted plaid flannel with skinnies or a pencil skirt.

So, are YOU a fan of PLAID? will you be wearing it this fall?

This whole plaid trend freaks me out…. I think the shirts and shirtdresses are pretty cute… but I feel like a lumberjack in it.

Off to go chop down a tree…

It’s not my favorite. I have a shirt or two with a very small plaid pattern (almost a check) that I’ll wear with jeans. But I typically don’t wear plaid.

LOL. Just yesterday I Twittered that I’m not a fan of the lumberjack trend. However, I have to admit, the two photos you showed are KINDA cute. (Although none of the star sightings particularly do it for me.)

It’s not a look that I feel I can pull off, but then I never wear button down shirts of any kind.

I think it can be cute on the right person, but I will be sitting this trend out. :-)

So this reminds me of the mid 90s, but I think the look is a bit more feminine this time around (the shirts seem more fitted to show off a figure better).

I like the fitted versions and the smaller checks pattern. I don’t like black and red lumberjack, though or the larger plaid.

cute pics!
