A couple of Wednesdays ago I wrote about getting a salon Keratin treatment on my hair. {You can find the post here: http://www.chic-critique.com/2009/10/keratin-my-new-bff.html}. It was really interesting to read some of the comments that I received. Apparently, some women have experienced problems with Coppola brand Keratin treatments. I don’t know anything about that. There are different brands, and my hairdresser has not experienced any problems with the brand that she uses. If you decide to get the treatment done, I would do a little research to find out what brand is going to be used and if there is any negative press about that brand.

I do know that Keratin treatment has been life-changing for me. I would do it all over again in a skinny minute. One of the things that you have to do when you have this treatment is to use sulfate-free shampoo. I found this Liquid Keratin shampoo at Ulta {it was sulfate-free}, and I figured that it could only help to use Keratin shampoo and conditioner after getting the salon treatment. It was expensive {$27.00 for the shampoo and $29.00 for the conditioner}, but I felt it was worth it to help prolong and improve the results of the pricey salon treatment that I had splurged on.

The Liquid Keratin shampoo moisturizes, as it protects hair from sun damage. It is developed for all hair types and is suitable for color treated hair. I have found that I have to shampoo my hair two times in a row each time that I use the shampoo. It might just be me, though, since I have really thick hair and I have usually had to shampoo twice when using other shampoos. It doesn’t lather as much as most shampoos that I have used, but it does seem to lather better on the second go round.

The Liquid Keratin conditioner hydrates and conditions hair while it replinishes keratin protein to restore strength, shine and softness. It has a pleasant, clean scent and leaves my hair really soft.

I added a pic of the Liquid Keratin 30 day Straight Smooth Strong and Long Treatment. I have not used this product, so I can’t vouch for it, but it does follow the same steps that were used during my salon treatment. It costs $69.00 for the kit, and the results typically last 6 weeks. This might be an alternative to try if you want to try a less expensive keratin treatment before splurging on the more expensive salon version.

I got this in an email from Ulta today:
http://www.ulta.com/store/salon/ultasalonkeratin.html?n=ulta&CID=ET_Salon_Keratin09&ET_LID=Keratin&RID=1425805514

They do a Keratin treatment in their salons too.
