Ponds® Towelette Review

in Makeup Removers, Reviews

A few months ago I was contacted by someone at Pond’s marketing team offering to send me a complimentary pack of Ponds Towelettes to review on my blog.

I posted my review there last week (since that was in the original agreement and prior to me signing on here at Chic Critique) but wanted to share with you all here as well.

I did wait until I used the entire pack of towelettes so that I could give it my most honest review.  So I offer you my experience with this product and how I felt it lived up to the promises it makes.

These towelettes can be found at just about any drugstore or grocery store and retail for approximately $5.00 per pack of 30.  I received the Original Clean formula and this is what the assets page says about them:

  • More effective at removing make-up than any other leading towelette
  • Contains Triple Tea Antioxidant Complex, Vitamin E and Chamomile
  • Luxuriously quilted cloths with a unique diamond texture allow for a deep clean without leaving any residue behind

Regarding the first claim: I’ve used other towelettes on the market and not a single one I’ve tried has been able to remove mascara without a lot of rubbing.  I always end up using eye makeup remover to get my mascara completely off  (if I even bother at all – what can I say, I’m lazy).  I’m afraid my experience with this towelette was no different.  It removes mascara somewhat, but doesn’t remove it without a fight.

Regarding the last claim: I did like the texture of these cloths compared to some others I’ve tried.  The diamond weave was great.  It may clean better than most towelettes on the market but it still left residue behind.  After cleaning my face with the towelette I followed up with toner. Every single time there was residue left behind on the toner soaked cotton pad.

Bottom line: I really wanted to love this product, primarily because I’m lazy at night when it comes to makeup removal.  I want something thats going to take it all off without having to break out the face cleanser and washcloth.  Unfortunately my experience was that it just didn’t live up to it’s promises.

*Disclaimer:  I did receive one complimentary (free) pack of cleansing towelettes from Pond’s® in exchange for a review on my blog.

I’ve never found a towelette that works as well as a face wash with soap and a eye makeup remover. I just don’t think it’s possible.

I do like these things for travel and I say if this is the “lazy girls” only way to remove make-up – it’s better than nothin’.

I agree though – a good face wash and water are always best. And no tugging on those eyes, ladies – wrinkles!
