Kiss My Face Kids **GIVEAWAY**

UPDATE:  Congratulations commenter #46 — wooster!  Your Kiss My Face Kids products are on their way to you!

For a while now, I’ve been on a bit of a mission to “green” up my beauty routine.

Yet, while I’ve managed to find some great products free of synthetic ingredients, parabens and sulfates, I’m by no means a die-hard green convert.  There are plenty of beauty products I still use because, frankly, I like them.  And — this is how I reason it in my head — I’ve been using these synthetic products for years without issue.

But.

When it comes to the products I use on my own children, I tend to be a tad more picky.  A child’s skin is thinner than an adult’s.  It absorbs anything applied to it at a much faster rate.  A child’s skin is often much more sensitive, as well.  So, when given a choice of using a synthetic product on my kids, or a product that is free of the chemical “junk,” I almost always opt for the latter.

Problem is, those types of products have been pricey and difficult to find.

Until now.

Kiss My Face has just released a line of bath and body care products for children.  The best part?  The entire collection is free of artificial colors and fragrances, parabens and sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates (SLS).

kissmyface2

I’ve been using the products on my kids for the last several weeks.

I think I’m in love.

Here’s what they offer:

Self-Foaming Shampoo and Body Wash:  My kids loved that this product did the lathering for them, making it super-easy to use.  It was gentle enough to use on my daughter’s eczema-prone skin without incident.

Bubble Wash:  That eczema-prone child?  She’s been bubble bath deprived pretty much her entire life.  Every time I’ve added bubbles to her bath, her skin breaks out in a red, itchy rash.  This Bubble Wash is the answer to prayer.  All of the fun, none of the itching.

Detangler Creme:  Up until this point, detangler was the one product that I had to compromise on.  I just simply would not give up using detangler on my daughter’s hair (that would be waytoo painful an experience for both her and me).  But, when I read the ingredient list on our old detangler bottle, I found myself wondering, “Is it that difficult to make a detangler that doesn’t have all the chemicals in it?”  Well, apparently it’s not, because Kiss My Face has done it.  It.  Rocks.

2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner:  Years ago, I remember reading that those 2 in 1 shampoos were among some of the harshest you could use on your hair.  I’ve always thought that was a shame, because the 2 in 1 concept is great.  Here’s the old time-saving 2 in 1 approach in new SLS and paraben-free form.  Awesome.

Self-Foaming Hand Wash:  Frequent handwashing takes its toll on tiny hands.  My children suffered through many a winter with dry, cracked hands until I realized it was the sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates in the antibacterial hand soap that was tearing their hands up.  It used to be virtually impossible to find an SLS-free soap.  The fact that this one is SLS-free and self-foaming?  Well, I feel like I died and went to heaven.

Lip Balm Duo:  My daughter’s lips can get very dry and chapped.  This is the only lip balm she’ll let me put on her lips without a fight.  It remedies the situation in just one or two applications.

A Whale of a Soap Duo Pack:  Another SLS-free soap option, only in bar — or should I say, whale — form.  These adorable whale-shaped soaps lather beautifully and are gentle enough to use head to toe.

The Kiss My Face Kids line comes in two scents, Orange U Smart and Berry Smart.  Many of the products are also offered fragrance-free, for the super-sensitive.

And — before you go writing off these products as being just for the kiddies — I’ve used all the products myself, as well.  I loved them all.  If you have sensitive skin, or if you’re just looking to add some “greener” bath and body products to your routine, don’t shy away from this line just because of the packaging.

The Kiss My Face Kids line is available at Target, Whole Foods Market and other places where natural products are sold.  Prices range from $5.95 for the Lip Balm Duo to $9.95 for the Bubble Wash.

WIN IT!  Now — here’s the best news.  One lucky Chic Critique reader will win one of every product listed above — all of which have been generously donated by Kiss My Face.   Here’s how to to win:

Love, love, love my “green” products. I’ve tried adult beauty products from Kiss My Face and have liked them. Would love to try them for the kids! I’d have to say that the one product I’d most want to try is the 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. My daughter’s curly hair requires both shampoo and conditioner or we’d never get it brished out, so to save a whole step in the bath process would be great! Then, for the same reasons, the cream detangler would also be great to try.

Great giveaway. Thanks for the opportunity!

The self-foaming hand wash…my toddler has recently learned to wash his hands and it’s all he wants to do! I worry about him using too much of the regular soap we have on hand.

I’d love to try the self foaming body wash and shampoo and also the hand wash. I technically don’t have kids, but I do have sensitive skin. If they came out with a face wash that removes makeup, I’d be all for it!

These products look great. I’ve had trouble finding green-er ones I like and that I can afford. I definitely want to try the self-foaming body wash on my kids.

I have two guys with eczema, the itchy, scaly, irritated and sometime bleeding kind. I’d love to try that body wash on them to see some improvement. Thanks for the opportunity.

I’d love to try the detangler for my daughter’s LONG LONG hair! Thanks for the giveaway! :)

23 april July 8, 2009 at 12:25 PM

Shampoo/conditioner or body wash for sure! I am concerned about parabens too!

24 Jen July 8, 2009 at 12:27 PM

My son has eczema too, and I think I’d be most interested in the bubble wash. He loves baths and has had to take them without any bubble mix because of the rash issue. Thanks for telling us about these products!

25 Heather July 8, 2009 at 2:27 PM

This could be the answer to the prayers of my bubble deprived eczema girl, too! The detangler is also something that we’d put to good use because her hair drives us both nutty without a good detangler!!

I would love to try the lip balm for my boys. They are so picky, and my oldest hates the cool sensation that the minty Burt’s Bees stuff has.

I think the detangler would be our first choice,… my daughter’s curly hair is just starting to get long enough to be a problem, but I haven’t brought myself to use a mainstream detangler yet… but it’s starting to get ugly at hair brushing time. :-( Poor kid. I’m all for trying the other products, but the detangler is the only one I don’t have any natural version of yet.

I’d love to win this set! The bubble wash looks great! Thanks. christy.vw at gmail dot com

32 Tara July 8, 2009 at 7:47 PM

I think we’d like the shampoo/conditioner. My 2 year old screams bloody blue murder when I wash her hair and then again when I comb it. Maybe this would eliminate at least one issue!

33 Marsha Traylor July 8, 2009 at 7:48 PM

I would love to try the self foaming body wash, my granddaughter has very sensitive skin. Thanks for the give-away.

I would love to try the Bubble Wash, my kids have problematic skin issues-this sounds like a nice fit for them. Having fun with bubbles and being green at the same time, nice.

47 Erika Chapman July 8, 2009 at 11:18 PM

Oh boo! I just missed out! But I will try to find these products at Target and give them a try. I have one allergy skin prone kiddo and it would be great to find something green and affordable:)

48 Beth Ray July 9, 2009 at 7:35 AM

I would want to try the detangler, because, like you, I hate using it knowing all of the junk that’s in it, but I have to use it to avoid tears, tantrums, etc. :)

thanks!
Beth
