Kiss My Face Kids **GIVEAWAY**

UPDATE:  Congratulations commenter #46 — wooster!  Your Kiss My Face Kids products are on their way to you!

For a while now, I’ve been on a bit of a mission to “green” up my beauty routine.

Yet, while I’ve managed to find some great products free of synthetic ingredients, parabens and sulfates, I’m by no means a die-hard green convert.  There are plenty of beauty products I still use because, frankly, I like them.  And — this is how I reason it in my head — I’ve been using these synthetic products for years without issue.

But.

When it comes to the products I use on my own children, I tend to be a tad more picky.  A child’s skin is thinner than an adult’s.  It absorbs anything applied to it at a much faster rate.  A child’s skin is often much more sensitive, as well.  So, when given a choice of using a synthetic product on my kids, or a product that is free of the chemical “junk,” I almost always opt for the latter.

Problem is, those types of products have been pricey and difficult to find.

Until now.

Kiss My Face has just released a line of bath and body care products for children.  The best part?  The entire collection is free of artificial colors and fragrances, parabens and sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates (SLS).

kissmyface2

I’ve been using the products on my kids for the last several weeks.

I think I’m in love.

Here’s what they offer:

Self-Foaming Shampoo and Body Wash:  My kids loved that this product did the lathering for them, making it super-easy to use.  It was gentle enough to use on my daughter’s eczema-prone skin without incident.

Bubble Wash:  That eczema-prone child?  She’s been bubble bath deprived pretty much her entire life.  Every time I’ve added bubbles to her bath, her skin breaks out in a red, itchy rash.  This Bubble Wash is the answer to prayer.  All of the fun, none of the itching.

Detangler Creme:  Up until this point, detangler was the one product that I had to compromise on.  I just simply would not give up using detangler on my daughter’s hair (that would be waytoo painful an experience for both her and me).  But, when I read the ingredient list on our old detangler bottle, I found myself wondering, “Is it that difficult to make a detangler that doesn’t have all the chemicals in it?”  Well, apparently it’s not, because Kiss My Face has done it.  It.  Rocks.

2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner:  Years ago, I remember reading that those 2 in 1 shampoos were among some of the harshest you could use on your hair.  I’ve always thought that was a shame, because the 2 in 1 concept is great.  Here’s the old time-saving 2 in 1 approach in new SLS and paraben-free form.  Awesome.

Self-Foaming Hand Wash:  Frequent handwashing takes its toll on tiny hands.  My children suffered through many a winter with dry, cracked hands until I realized it was the sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates in the antibacterial hand soap that was tearing their hands up.  It used to be virtually impossible to find an SLS-free soap.  The fact that this one is SLS-free and self-foaming?  Well, I feel like I died and went to heaven.

Lip Balm Duo:  My daughter’s lips can get very dry and chapped.  This is the only lip balm she’ll let me put on her lips without a fight.  It remedies the situation in just one or two applications.

A Whale of a Soap Duo Pack:  Another SLS-free soap option, only in bar — or should I say, whale — form.  These adorable whale-shaped soaps lather beautifully and are gentle enough to use head to toe.

The Kiss My Face Kids line comes in two scents, Orange U Smart and Berry Smart.  Many of the products are also offered fragrance-free, for the super-sensitive.

And — before you go writing off these products as being just for the kiddies — I’ve used all the products myself, as well.  I loved them all.  If you have sensitive skin, or if you’re just looking to add some “greener” bath and body products to your routine, don’t shy away from this line just because of the packaging.

The Kiss My Face Kids line is available at Target, Whole Foods Market and other places where natural products are sold.  Prices range from $5.95 for the Lip Balm Duo to $9.95 for the Bubble Wash.

WIN IT!  Now — here’s the best news.  One lucky Chic Critique reader will win one of every product listed above — all of which have been generously donated by Kiss My Face.   Here’s how to to win:

1) REQUIRED:  Leave a comment on this post telling me what product you’d most like to try from the new Kiss My Face Kids’ line.

2) OPTIONAL:  Tell your friends about this contest on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, or via email.  Leave a 2nd comment telling me which you did.  You can do more than one if you desire.

I SO agree with you on the detangler. I couldn’t find good “green” one and have been “compromising” as well. I use kiss my face products for myself and my kids love the kids foaming hand soap. Would LOVE to try the detangler and bubble bath too!!
Thanks for the chance to win! :)

My kids actually wanted the orange scented shampoo/body wash at the grocery store the other day, so that’s what I would pick!

4 Jennifer July 9, 2009 at 12:28 PM

I subscribed too!

I’d love to try the foaming handwash or the whale soap on my kids. I have 4 kids and summer means more than one shower/bath a day quite often. I’d love to switch them over to healthier products.

I’m definitely most interested in the detangler. If it were winter, it would probably be the lip balm. :)

I’ve seen these at the store and have always wondered about them. Thanks for the scoop! I can’t wait to try them out. It always helps when someone else can give you the thumbs up! I’d like to try the 2 in 1 conditioner. I’m excited!

I would love to try the self foaming hand wash the most, I think it would be most used since my son washes his hands so frequently since it is fun to play in the water for him ;-)

I shared on facebook.

25 Eve July 11, 2009 at 3:48 AM

The one that I would most like to try is the Bubble Wash because the kids love bubble baths and they look so cute when they them.

i would love to try the lip balm duo. sounds great!

33 Tina July 12, 2009 at 9:42 PM

We’ve been using the Aura Cacia Kids line of body wash and shampoo, and the boys really like it. I’m glad that there is more than one option though! We haven’t tried the new Kiss My Face stuff yet, although I’ve used some of their adult products. I’d be most interested in the shampoo/conditioner and the body wash, just because that is what we use most often. The whale bar soap sounds fun!

34 Pam July 13, 2009 at 11:40 AM

Would love to try the shampoo/conditioner 2 in 1. I have 3 1/2 year old twins who would also love to sample all of the other products! :)

The detangler creme! I’ve always insisted on haircuts (really short ones) every time the tangles overwhelm my daughter and me…..this may be the solution that would let my little girl finally have some long hair!

37 Tara July 13, 2009 at 9:38 PM

I’m a subscriber. : )

38 Amy July 13, 2009 at 9:38 PM

I would love to try all those products, they look great! But I think the one I would like to try the most is the bubble bath. Both my kids love bubble baths, but my son has eczema so I avoid it when I can. And if his big sister gets to have a bubble bath, then he wants one too. So nobody gets them at our house.

39 Shannon July 14, 2009 at 7:45 AM

I’d like to try the detangling creme… both of my girls have decided they want to grow their hair long, but they’re not the best at keeping it combed!

40 Emily July 14, 2009 at 9:35 AM

I’m excited about the 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner!

41 Sarah Turner July 14, 2009 at 11:29 AM

I completely identify with struggling to “green” my beauty products (I love my old standbys), but I MUST have green bath products for my 2 year old daughter. I would be most interested in trying the detangling creme. Detangling spray or creme is a must with my scalp-senstive daughter and I would love to find something that is more natural and smells good, too!

42 Kathie July 14, 2009 at 12:00 PM

I just subscribed! Love their products

43 Kathie July 14, 2009 at 12:02 PM

I’d really like to try the self foaming hand wash — toddler hands need so much washing – or so she tells me!

44 sk sk July 14, 2009 at 12:18 PM

I have used Kiss my face products before and would love to get them for my 4 yr old daughter. It is so difficult to find products free of artificial colors and fragrances.

45 Jes July 14, 2009 at 2:25 PM

I love the Kiss my face kids line. I have tried the foaming hand wash and the whale soap. great scents but the price is a little too much these days.

46 Jes July 14, 2009 at 2:26 PM

47 Shae July 15, 2009 at 4:44 PM

I want to try out the detangler! My daughter looks like Medusa every morning so we go through ridiculous amounts of conditioner and detangler at our house!!

48 Shae July 15, 2009 at 4:45 PM

Woot! Woot!! Subscriber over here too!!!

49 Shae July 15, 2009 at 4:46 PM

I emailed friends (and my sister) about this stuff. I can’t wait to try it out.
