I think that most whitening formulas contain the same active ingredients. I have not tried Crest, but I used Listerine's whitening formula for a couple of weeks. After about 3-4 days, I began to notice a dark discoloration on my tongue. I assumed I had eaten something that stained my tongue. Day after day, the discoloration remained and got darker & larger. Then I noticed that the groove-ey, tastebud-like things on my tongue were growing longer - like hair. But they were black now! I was disgusting! I googled "black, hairy tongue" and lo and behold! There is actually a condition called "Black Hairy Tongue" and it is caused primarily by use of whitening mouthwashes! I quit the Listerine and within 3 days my tongue was back to normal. Obviously, this does not affect everyone, but it bears noting as a possibilty.
